It started with drinks and tapas...
Lisa and Peter met for drinks at a tapas bar in San Francisco over three years ago. From the beginning, there was an instant connection–and what was supposed to be a quick bite turned into a late evening with dinner, friends, and warm conversation.
They both have a passion for the outdoors and an appetite for exploration, which has led to many shared adventures. Early on, they built a strong connection introducing each other to activities that they love. Lisa introduced Peter to rock climbing and brought him into backcountry backpacking. She told him that in backpacking, "starving was part of the experience," and Peter quickly remedied that by insisting they pack ingredients to make gourmet meals. Lisa now admits that this was a good change, since freeze dried meals don't taste as good as the real thing. Peter introduced Lisa to skiing, and even though she is allergic to cold weather, she loved it, and they've both enjoyed many happy weekends in Tahoe with good friends.
They also both appreciate good food and the simple pleasure of reading during a luxuriously, long weekend brunch. Lisa never realized that brunch was an event until she moved to San Francisco and met Peter. Now they both enjoy having brunch, trying different foods together, and experimenting with new recipes on and off the trail.
Fast forward a few years later to the proposal...
Over Veteran’s Day weekend they went backpacking in Desolation Wilderness, a mountain cathedral of “carved granite, alpine forests, and pristine peaks.” On the shore of Lake Aloha in the serenity and solitude of the Sierra backcountry they both love, he asked her to marry him. Despite dragging her out in the cold of late Autumn, she said yes!!!
